Lagos Council Chairman Accused Of Anti-Party Activities, Alleged To Be Sponsoring YPP Councillorship Candidate

It seems all is not well politically among All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in Orile Agege Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Agege, Lagos state, as the Chairman of the Council, Mr Johnson Sunday Babatunde, was accused of anti-party activities ahead of the local government elections in the state.
Some members of the party in the council area accused him of sponsoring and supporting another party’s councillorship candidate against the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
NEWSBeat learnt that the APC candidate for Ward D in Orile Agege is Adeoye Wahab Alabi.
It was gathered that the Chairman and his group are not favourably disposed towards the party’s candidate.
They allegedly decided to sponsor the candidate of their choice, Omotunde Afolabi Abdul Kareem, in another party, the Young Peoples Party (YPP).
It was further gathered that some other people involved in the anti-party activities are members of the Obasa Movement, group loyal to the Speaker of the state Assembly, Rt Hon Mudashiru Obasa though it is not clear whether the Speaker is aware of this move and in support of the move.
Also reportedly involved in the alleged anti-party activities was one C M Ogunyemi, current Executive Secretary of the Agege Local Government Education Authority (LGEA).
All efforts to reach the Council Chairman remained abortive as at the time of filing this report.
