UNDP Installs 12KW Capacity Solar PV System In Liberian County Service Centre
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has installed a solar power plant at the Rivercess County Service Center in Liberia.
The system which was installed as part of the Solar for Health Project has a capacity of 12kW and comprise 74 solar panels mounted on the rooftop of the CSC building.
The system is paired with a storage system consisting of 24 lithium batteries. The total system required an investment of over $82,000.
The solar installation will enable the Rivercess County Service Center to improve access to services, increase service users, & reduce operational costs.
Rivercess County Inspector and Acting Superintendent Daniel Tokoe Doe described the project as huge as it will save funds for the government.
He also applauded the project developers for selecting the county as the first to benefit from the solar project.
The Coordinator of the Service Center, Eric Peterson expects the solar system to facilitate operations and timely reporting. that the installation of solar energy will also facilitate timely reporting.
“The constraints faced by Ministries, Agencies, and Commissions (MACs) in compiling report will now be a thing of the past, with the delay mainly attributed to the lack of electricity,” added Peterson.
UNDP Team Lead for its Governance Portfolio James Monibah noted that although the solar for health project focuses on health facilities, the electricity challenges faced by County Service Centersmade the installation in the Rivercess Service centre necessary.
