Six People Reportedly Killed In Fresh Attack At Ife/Modakeke Crisis

It was gathered that some aggrieved youths from Modakeke town stormed the palace of Ooni of Ife, to protest the alleged killing of their people at Toro; a suburb village in Ile-Ife.

The development, however, sparked the crisis between the youths of Ile Ife and Modakeke which led to the death of six people.

Major streets in Ile Ife town were reportedly deserted for fear of reprisal attack, while the famous Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, was also shut down.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi was said to be out of the town, as the Osun State Police spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident, saying that a team of police operatives had been drafted to the towns.
