Veteran Journalist, Lagada-Abayomi Prepares To Launch Book In Honour Of Awolowo

 

A veteran journalist cum yoruba literature scholar, Olanrewaju Lagada-Abayomi, has finally concluded plans to launch a new Yoruba Literature book titled ‘ Awolowo Akikanju Asiwaju (AAA)’ on the 16th of September this year.

The author, who heads the Yoruba section of the Voice Of Nigeria (VON) in Lagos and House Of Assembly Correspondent for VON, authored the book under the auspices of Chief Dr. (Amb.) Olatokunbo Awolowo Dosumu.

In a statement issued by his media consultant, Olaide Awosanya, the presentation of the book will hold at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Conference and Exhibition Centre, No 10 Olowopopo Street, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.

” The event will hold under the chairmanship of H.R.H Oba Oladipo Olaitan LLB (London) BL (The Alaago of Kajola Alaago, Osun State), Deputy Leader, Pan Yoruba Socio-Cultural Organization, Afenfere and H.I.M Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife, as the Royal Guest of Honour and it is part of the programmes to commemorate the 6th year remembrance of the amiable-amazon of Awo’s dynasty, Late Chief Dr. Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo CON, in Lagos” said Lagada-Abayomi.

” As a Yoruba scholar and creative writer, the author used his talent and mastery of the Yoruba language to rekindle the flames of Yoruba-centricity and consciousness in spirit of its rich culture, history and diversity.

“This, I have done for many years through the publication of several books in Yoruba language, which have been assessed and approved for use in primary and secondary education in some states in the South West including Lagos and beyond, and as a Yoruba broadcaster. Some awards and endorsements have been received to my credit.

“In continuation of my quest to promote Yoruba culture, I have written this additional book, Awolowo Akikanj Asiwaju (AAA on a foremost icon of the 20th century, who had helped in unifying and reshaping the identity of the Yoruba race,” the author stated.

” Recognizing the essence of the book to the new generation, the Lagos State Government has approved it for Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination 2021/2022. Oyo State Government followed suit, and extended it to students at senior level”, said Lagada-Abayomi.

Lagada-Abayomi, a graduate of Yoruba Literature from Ogun State University, also obtained a master’s degree in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos.

He had authored over ten Yoruba Language books and received several awards.
