The Rotary Club of Egbe, District 9110 Nigeria, Rotary International, has sworn-in her first female President, Rotarian Calista Akubuo (PHF) after 19 years.
The Club also inducted five new members to the existing 29 members.
The installation, which was held during the weekend had in attendance District 9110 Nigeria, Governor Nominee, Rotn. Ify Ejeziem, Mr. Akinkunmi John as the Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Chris Ohwo and Dr. Chidi Okpaluba as guest Speakers.
In her inaugural speech, Rotarian Okubuo called on well meaning individual, group and companies to support the humanitarian service projects her club has planned to carry out during 2021-2022, Rotary year.
According to the Imo State born entrepreneur “our club need your support in the various service projects penciled down for this Rotary year. We planned to grow local Economies; provision of grants of N50,00 to 70 petty traders within the community to support their businesses, we want to renovate two Primary Health Centres and donate Medical equipment and consumables to the PHC within our communities, we also want to support the Education of our Children by renovating 2 block of classrooms at Oke-Afa Junior High School, we want to organize seminar on peace and conflict resolution for peaceful coexistence of people irrespective of their religious and etnics background and sensitization forum for students of Ikotun High School on the side effect of drugs abuse and cultism”.
The humanitarian business guru stated that it would cost N10,100,000.00 for the club to achieve the projects.
In his speech, the Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Akinkunmi John, enjoined Nigerians home and abroad to support the club and donate generously to the growth and development of the nation.
The two guest speakers, Ohwo and Dr. Okpaluba spoke extensively on the need to be focus and do away with depression in order to achieve one’s goals in life.
The event attracted various companies like Checker Custard, Lábà Foods, Treasuremirth Resources amongs others.
