Lagos APC: Buhari Knows We Have Political Strength- Lagos4Lagos Movement

A political movement within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Lagos4Lagos, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari was aware of its political strength in the party and the state.

The group said that the party would not want to lose its huge membership.

This was made known on Wednesday by the factional State Chairman of the Lagos APC, Mr Sunday Ajayi, in a media interview with journalists.

It would be recalled that the group held parallel congresses from ward to state level.

Ajayi said what played out last Saturday (State Congress day) was an indication that Lagos4Lagos Movement was a leading group in the party, adding that the group as a new born baby conducted a proper congress to take over Lagos.

He explained that the group followed due process and procedure for all its congresses, adding that if the movement is called for appeal it would appear.

Ajayi who said nobody can stop anyone from approaching the court for redress, said that the national body remains the final arbital.

“All over, it is known that Lagos for Lagos is a leading group in Lagos State. No doubt about that.

“What played out on Saturday showed it. A sitting governor said what others did on Saturday was a naming ceremony but what happened at Onikan Stadium was a funeral ceremony.

“On our side, we have done a proper congress to take over Lagos as a new born baby,” said Ajayi.

He added: “The way forward now is that there is an appeal and this was stated by the Director of Mobilisation yesterday. If they call us for appeal we will go.

“Then the final arbital is the national body, after the national body is the court and nobody can stop anybody from going to court. But today, we know that we are the authentic APC leading faction in Lagos State.

“We are not comfortable with the impunity and imposition of candidates on party members at both elective and party leadership. All the aggrieved people are in Lagos4Lagos Movement and they are saying enough is enough.”

He said the group was not bringing down Lagos APC but that the national body should do the needful.

He said that the group’s Lead Visioner would be on the ballot paper in 2023 as governorship candidate while he was not specific on the political platform he would contest.

On APC fortune in Lagos after the parallel congresses, Ajayi said that it was in the hand of the national body of the party as he claimed the group had submitted results of all congresses it held which was duly signed by the national secretariat
