Buhari Unveils eNaira

President Muhammadu Buhari has unveiled Nigeria’s first digital currency, eNaira.
The unveiling ceremony was held at the Presidential Villa on Monday.
Present at the launch includes the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami and other officials.
Recall that the eNaira was billed to be unveiled on October 1.
However, the event was shifted due to activities on Independence Day.
A statement issued on the digital currency website read “eNaira is a Central Bank of Nigeria-issued digital currency that provides a unique form of money denominated in Naira.
“eNaira serves as both a medium of exchange and a store of value, offering better payment prospects in retail transactions when compared to cash payments.”
