The Obasa Movement, a political group mobilising support for the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt (Hon) Mudashiru Obasa, on Saturday officially inaugurated its Ward Cordinators  in Apapa Iganmu Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

NewsBeatng reports that the State Coordinator of the Movement, Hon. Akinola Idowu, who is the Assistant Welfare Officer of the Lagos All Progressives Congress (APC), carried out inauguration and also unveiled the secretariat of the movement in the LCDA.

Idowu said that the movement was concerned about the 2023 general elections, especially to actualise the Presidential ambition of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos State.

“We are not here to split the party. APC is our party. We are only adding to the work of the party to move forward.

“We are here to work to see to the fruition of the Presidential ambition of Tinubu. We should carry the task and sell it everywhere.

“We are standing for the growth of the Yoruba,” he said.

Idowu urged the coordinators to work with the ward and local government executive of the party and other support groups for Tinubu without tearing or dividing the party.

The state coordinator urged the coordinators to get involved in mobilising people to register for Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for elections to actualise Tinubu’s aspirations in 2023.

He added that the movement wanted development to reach the grassroots, hence the need to build an army to accelerate such development.

He urged the coordinators to put up good character, mobilise votes in any means, and work hard without without idleness for the future of the ruling party.

Earlier in his welcome address, Barr. (Hon) Mutiu Alimi, the LCDA Coordinator of the movement, said that no Lagos residents would deny the role of Tinubu, Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Obasa in all the progress the state had recorded.

Alimi said everything about the movement was in line with Tinubu’s ideals and vision of bringing good governance to the people.

“We cannot separate Tinubu, the governor of Lagos State and Obasa. This is man with vision. He is a very visionary and foresighted leader.

“This movement is predicated on the achievements of Obasa. The speaker has done so much to achieve the vision of our party and our leader, Tinubu.

“Obasa has been so responsive to the yearnings and aspirations of the people. He stands by the people and for the people. Nothing happens in the state without his support,” he said.

According to him, Tinubu controls larger followership in the political circle in Nigeria not only in Lagos and deserve to be worked for in 2023.

He recounted the many achievements of Obasa to include the creation of Cancer Research Institute, Neighborhood Safety Corps and promotion of the Yoruba language and culture.

The event had in attendance leaders and members of the party in the state and in the council area.

Also, a Chieftain of the party and Movement, Hon. Adeyemi Adeseye ( Ade Obasa), said the Movement was to instil the belief and ideology of Tinubu and Obasa in the minds of Lagosians, saying that its purpose was to intensify the campaign for Tinubu’s presidency.
