Six Tricycle Operators Attacked In Agege

Atleast six persons were wounded in a fiasco between the members of the National Union of Road Transportation Workers (NURTW) and Tricycle Owners and Operators Association of Nigeria (TOOAN) in Lagos state.
The fiasco which occured at around 10am on Thursday at the NURTW state secretariat in Agege, led to the deployment of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) officials to TOOAN state secretariat on Lagos-Abeokuta Express Way, Abule Egba.
It was gathered that crisis erupted at an emergency meeting of the NURTW officials summoned by the State Chairman, Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo) to discuss the latest development in the Union on the appointment of Azeez Abiola (Istijabah) as the State Chairman of TOOAN by the National President, Alhaji Tajudeen Baruwa yesterday in Abuja.
An eyewitness narrated that the crisis erupted when Istijabah and his executives were entering the premises of NURTW office as some loyalists of MC Oluomo allegedly attacked them, adding that those attacked were left in the cold blood before they were picked by the RRS.
One of the members of TOOAN, who spoke with journalists in anonymity said that one Kazeem Akinbode (Womi), who was standing behind Istijabah was allegedly hit with plank on his left eye by NURTW boys loyal to MC Oluomo while others were stabbed with bottles and jack knives.
He said that they did not expect that they would be attacked because they were called for a meeting on what transpired in Abuja on Wednesday.
The TOOAN official added that three of the NURTW officials allegedly attacked Istijabah.
It would be recalled that there was fracas between officials of NURTW and TOOAN in Lagos suburb on Thursday morning following the appointment of Azeez Abiola (Istijabah) as the State Chairman of TOOAN by the National leadership of NURTW.
The fracas occured at Alimosho, Abule Egba, Agbelekale, Ile Epo and Meiran areas of the state as commuters ran for safety.
