A limited liability company wholly owned by the Akwa Ibom State government, Ibom Air, has been presented with the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification, positioning the airline for regional operations and collaborations.

According to a press release by the Group Manager, Marketing and Communication, Ibom Airlines Limited, Aniekan Essienette, the IOSA certification was presented by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) on Wednesday, at the Ibom Air headquarters in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State.

“The IOSA Certification validates the airline’s high operational and safety standards and is an essential milestone as the airline positions for regional operations and collaboration,” the airline stated.

The IOSA audit was conducted in the second half of 2022, just over three years after the airline commenced commercial operations.

The certification is a pre-requisite for the airline to establish multiple interline agreements and excellent cooperation with partner airlines.

The CEO of Ibom Air, Mfon Udom, also expressed his appreciation. “Ibom Air’s effort was championed by the airline’s Quality and Safety Team, led by Engineer Edem Essien, Group Manager: Quality and Safety,” he added.

Ibom Air currently has a fleet of seven aircraft, covering seven destinations and nine routes. With this certification, the airline aims to set the standard as an airline of choice for passengers by focusing on schedule reliability, on-time departures, and excellent service.
