Drug Trafficking: NDLEA Arraigns Abba Kyari, Six Others

The embattled former leader of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), DCP Abba Kyari, has been arraigned today, Monday, March 7, on charges of drug trafficking, alongside six others at the Federal High Court in Abuja, by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

It would be recalled that Kyari was arrested in a sting operation where he allegedly attempted to bribe an operative of the NDLEA with $61,400 in Abuja to prevent the testing of part of the cocaine that was seized from the two arrested drug pushers.

The NDLEA had filed eight counts of hard drugs trafficking against Mr Kyari, who is also wanted in the United States for his relationship with convicted fraudster, Ramon ‘Hushpuppi’ Abass.

Those arrainged along with Mr Kyari include Assistant Commissioner of Police ACP Sunday Ubua, Assistant Superintendent of Police ASP Bawa James, Inspector Simon Agirigba, Inspector John Nuhu, Chibuinna Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus Ezenwanne.
