While notice of the meeting with the Vice President did not clearly state the agenda of the meeting, it was gathered that Osinbajo would use the opportunity of the meeting to personally inform the state chairmen of APC his interest to join the presidential race.
Various groups of supporters have called on the Vice President to join the presidential race describing him as the most qualified and competent person to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
In the couple of months, there had been speculation in the media that the Vice President would contest the 2023 presidential election to succeed his boss following a formal declaration in December 2021, by his political mentor and National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
While the Vice President according to sources close to him, has not informed his boss, President Buhari, of his ambition, his foot soldiers led by his Political Adviser, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, have been travelling around the country mobilising various interest groups to support the yet to be declared presidential ambition of Osinbajo.
