Gas Explosion Hits Lagos, Four Injured

 

A gas cylinder on Monday exploded due to gas leakage beside a church in Agege area of Lagos state.

It was gathered that the gas cylinder caught fire and affected shops around the area.

Confirming the incident, the Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, in a statement, said ”On arrival at the incident scene, it was discovered that  a shop stored with gas cylinders caught fire.

“Investigation conducted by the LRT revealed that one of the gas cylinder got exploded as a result of gas leakage and in the process caught fire, affecting the  shop whilst other shops and adjoining  buildings were salvaged

Oke-Osanyintolu disclosed that no loss of life, adding that four adults (3 female) and an adult male sustained various degrees of injuries.

He added that the injured were attended to by the Agency’s pre-hospital care and LASAMBUS .

The LASEMA boss explained that the victims had also been moved to Lagos University Teaching Hospital, adding that the  inferno was completely put out by the combined effort of LASEMA LRT, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
