2023: Group Urges APC To Cede Lagos West Seat To Badagry Division

A group, Badagry Division Concerned Indigenes (BDCI), has appealed to the Lagos All Progressives Party (APC) to cede the Lagos West Senatorial District ticket to Badagry Division area.

The group claimed that ceding the ticket to the division would serve as reward for its loyalty to the party.

BDCI made the appeal at a stakeholders’ meeting held on Tuesday in Badagry with politicians, representatives from various quarters and other relevant political bigwigs from the division.

At the meeting, the group also decried alleged marginalisation of the area in terms of dividends of democracy.

The group expressed its dissatisfaction in a statement signed by its Chairman, Adekunle Ojoye.

NewsBeatng reports Badagry indiegenes alleged that the division has not enjoyed fair political representations in government since 1999.

Making specific demands, the group urged the ruling APC to cede the Lagos West Senatorial seat to the Badagry division as a mark of appreciation, adding that the area deserves it by merit owing to its sustained loyalty to the party.

“The truth of the matter is that our division has not been enjoying fair political representations under the APC administration since 1999.

According to them, since the inception of the present democracy, the Badagry Division have not had any of its son or daughter given the opportunity to represent the Lagos West Senatorial District at the Senate.

“Since 1999, all elected Senators have been from the Ikeja Division, leaving the Badagry division in political limbo,” the group said.

The group lamented that the last opportunity they had in 2019 was truncated with the return of the incumbent senator representing the axis from Alimosho, Ikeja division after his failed attempt to contest in Ogun State.
