Tinubu’s Campaign DG, Jubrin Officially Dumps APC For NNPP

The Director-General of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Support Groups Management Council, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP)

Jibrin left the APC to contest for the Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency seat of the House of Representatives on the platform of the NNPP after failing out with Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

NewsBeatng reports that Jibrin in a tweet on May 7, announced he was leaving the APC, promising his next party within the next 24 hours following his inability to get a return ticket to the House of Representatives.

It was alleged that Governor Ganduje has not forgiven Jibrin for working against his re-election for second term in 2019.

Jibrin was elected for third term in the lower chamber of the National Parliament in 2019 to represent Kiru/Bebeji federal constituency, but lost the seat to a PDP contender in November 2019 after a Court of Appeal judgment annulled his victory and ordered for a rerun.

The PDP candidate was reportedly supported by Ganduje to defeat Jibrin and since then, both men have been politically opposed to each other even though they are both reportedly supporting the presidential aspiration of Asiwaju Tinubu.

Tinubu however stepped in and reached out to Ganduje with a view of solving the impasse.

In that regard, the Kano APC State Chairman, released a statement where he said Ganduje ordered that the issue be resolved.

Meanwhile, the governor and Jibrin were scheduled to meet on Sunday with a view of reaching a truce.

Jibrin’s move to NNPP however shows that the matter could not be resolved, forcing the former lawmaker to the party led by former Kano Governor Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso.
