Agunbiade Clinches APC ticket For Ikorodu Constituency 1

The Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade has won the primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to represent Ikorodu Constituency 1 in the 2023 general elections.

Agunbiade, a trained lawyer, defeated other aspirants during the party primary, which held on Friday May 27, 2022 at the secretariat of Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

The delegates, who overwhelmingly voted for Agunbiade, described him as a good representative, who has attracted several developments to Ikorodu since he got into the assembly as a lawmaker.

A politician in the area, who gave his name as Iyanda Adebowale commended the members of the APC for supporting Agunbiade for another term, saying that they count on him to continue what he has been doing for the people.

Adebowale emphasised that the experienced lawmaker has never been found wanting in the area of coming to the aid of the people, whenever occasion demanded, recalling that he has done many empowerment programmes that have benefitted the people of the area.

“Hon. Agunbiade is an asset to Ikorodu, Lagos State House of Assembly and the state generally. We know his worth and we have decided to return him to the assembly despite the antagonism from some quarters.

“We know what we want and that was why we decided that he would participate in the 2023 general elections and we are sure that he would win and go ahead to be part of the success story of the state,” he said, adding that Agunbiade will not disappoint the people of Ikorodu Constituency 1.

In a brief acceptance speech after the exercise, Agunbiade said that he was overwhelmed that the people believe so much in him.

While saying that he would not take their support for granted, Agunbiade promised to do more for the people and make Ikorodu the envy of others.

The lawmaker said that time had come for the people of Ikorodu to move ahead of others, saying that he would continue to do his best for the people.

“The victory is not for me alone, I dedicate it to my people, who have always been there for me come rain and shine and I will always stand by them. It is a privilege to serve, I don’t see myself as being better than others, but it is just an opportunity for us to serve our people.

“I will not stop doing whatever we need to do for our people; we will rather do more so that we can wipe away tears from their faces. I love my people, they are the best and I see them as partners in progress and we pray that we will win the general elections so that we can kick-start the next phase of our programmes for the people,” he said.
