Lagos Lawmaker Donates Furniture To Six Schools

A lawmaker  representing Kosofe 2 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Obafemi Saheed, on Thursday donated 200 chairs and tables to six primary schools in the constituency, promising to donate an 80 seater bus to ease mobility of students.

Saheed, who made the promise at the launching of the 200 furnitures in Agiliti-Ketu, Lagos, said the donation was to complement the efforts of the state government in the area of education.

The lawmaker said that the donation was the beginning of a new dawn in the constituency, adding that the onus is on him to support the efforts of the government in developing the state.

“I have been a grassroots person and I have families in public schools. I know pupils will need furnitures and I know it will add quality to what the state government is doing,” Saheed said.

He added that similar educational empowerment would be replicated next year, adding that he would always engage in programmes that would enhance community development.

While receiving the chairs and tables, the Executive Secretary,  Kosofe Education Board, Mr Babatunde Soneye, who was represented by Mrs Feyikemi Adewunmi, appreciated the donation, saying that the furnitures would enhance students comfortability.

Soneye stated that it was unusual to see Nigerian politicians fulfilling campaign promises, adding that the lawmaker displays uncommon characters by fulfilling promises made.

The Head Teacher of Aina Memorial Primary School, Mrs Rukayat Raimi, said the donation would have learning impact on the pupils because there was no enough furnitures in the school.

Raimi said there is need to renovate some of the buildings in the school, adding that flooding always affect activities during rainy season.
