Sanwo-Olu’s Govt Lacks Compassion For Citizens’ Plight- Lagos PDP

Following the recent announcement by the Lagos state government to increase the fare for BRT buses, the major opposition party in the state, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has slammed governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for showing ‘ lack of compassion’ and ‘ total disregard’ for the plight of the citizens.

NewsBeatng recalled that the state government increased the fare of BRT buses in Ikorodu, Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), and other locations.

According to the state government, from July 13 a trip from Ikorodu to TBS will cost N600 naira instead of N500 naira; Berger to Ajah will increase to N700 from N600 naira.

The Lagos PDP in a statement issued on Saturday by its State Publicity Secretary, Mr Hakeem Amode, said ” The APC led government blame the hike in the pump price of diesel  from N187 to N830 and the unavailability of spare parts for the increase.

With  the  crippling economic situation brought about by this same government’s ineptitude , being experienced by Lagosians on a daily basis, the Lagos State government has shown lack of compassion and total disregard for the plight of the citizens of the state”.

Amode said that Sanwo-Olu’s administration had completely abdicated its responsibility to the people of the state and turn a blind eye to their predicaments.

” The few ‘Luxuries’ that the people benefit from the state is being taken away. Now is not the time for any form of increment,as the people of the state have suffered enough under this unsympathetic government.

” The proposed increase should be shelved so as not to worsen the citizens’ situation in the face of dilapidated infrastructure, insecurity,  hunger, rise in crime among others being experienced by the people of the state”.
