One dead in Oro Worshippers, Church Members’ Clash In Lagos

Oro worshippers and some church members have clashed during vigil in Lagos, leaving one person dead.
NewsBeatng learnt that some Oro worshippers who were on a procession at night approached the church (name withheld) to put out their light and allegedly ordered everyone to face down but that the church leadership and some congregants refused. This was said to have resulted to serious face-off.
However, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, through his verified twitter handle on Wednesday posted that the clash occurred as the Christian faithful observed vigil.
Hundeyin added ” Oro worshippers clashed with church members holding a vigil. It sadly resulted in the death of one person. It’s clearly a murder case. Suspects have been arrested. But henceforth, how do we ensure religious tolerance in similar cases?”.
Oro is regarded as a Yoruba god, that announces its presence by a whirring, roaring sound which can be heard in the neighbourhood.
