All Progressives Congress (APC), in Lagos state, on Friday held service of song and candle light at the party’s secretariat in Acme, Ikeja for the late State Treasurer, Olasumbo Ajose, who died July this year in the United States after brief illness.
The candle light, which was attended by some party faithful and party leaders including the state Chairman, Alhaji Tunde Balogun, Secretary, Hon. Lanre Ogunyemi, Publicity Secretary, Mr Seye Oladejo and others, also had in attendance pastors and choirs from the Headquarters of the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministry (MFM).
In his testimony, the party Chairman, Tunde Balogun, described the late Ajose as a rare gem whose contribution to the management of the party was immeasurable.
Balogun said the moment was a sad one for both him and the entire members of the party in the state, adding that the deceased was a beloved friend, loving sister and industrious party executive.
He said ” Indeed it is a sad moment. We will not use it to mourn our dear sister but to celebrate her as a shining star who was passionate about getting things done appropriately and always show concern about moving the party forward. She was a great intellectual who engaged our opponents brilliantly. I want to let us know that we are all mortals and we shall die one day when God says it is time”.
In his sermon, the Lead Pastor, Olakunle Olaide said “You must do the work he has sent you to do because we don’t have eternity to do it. The night will come. The night is coming. For every man, the night will come. Each of us carry an expiry date. We should know that the night is coming and we must work.
“We do not send ourselves here. What are you doing about the work that you are sent to do. Life is like a ticket, it has to be spent. The current of life is time, time is scarce, we have limited time to do what we have to do.No prayers can stop the night from coming. Before your time come, make sure you have done what you are sent to do”.
” When the night comes, the opportunity to do good will cease. When the night comes, you are going to live everything you have acquired. Somebody is waiting to take all you have laboured for after death. When the night comes, you start a lonely journey of no return. When night comes, whether you like it or not, you will have a free title of ‘LATE and RIP'”, he said.
Olaide urged politicians to always do what would aid progress for the state and Nigeria, saying that they should understand they hold positions in trust for the people who elected them.
Members of her family and few executives gave testimony on who the deceased was and how she impacted their life.
The late Ajose is expected to be interred tommorrow in the United States.
