EFCC Arraigns Ogun Speaker In Lagos

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned the speaker of the Ogun state house of assembly, Olakunle Oluomo at the federal high court in Lagos.
Oluomo is facing an 11-count charge along with the clerk of the House of Assembly, Taiwo Adeyemo and one Oladayo Samuel.
The three accused men were separately represented by Kehinde Ogunwumiju (SAN), Akinyemi Aremu and Oluwole Aladedoye.
The economic and financial crimes commission prosecuting the case was represented by Rotimi Oyedepo.
They are accused of allegedly laundering Ogun state funds totaling more than 2.465 billion naira.
A fourth defendant, Adeyanju Nimota Amoke is said to be at large.
They were all said to have sometimes in 2019 in the Ogun State capital, Abeokuta conspired amongst themselves to launder more than Two Billion, Four Hundred and Seventy Five Million Naira from the treasury of the Ogun State House of Assembly.
The alleged offence is said to be contrary to sections 18 (a), 15 (2) (d) of the Money Laundering Prohibition Act, 2011 as amended and punishable under section 15 (3)of the same Act.
The Ogun State Speaker of the House of Assembly, OlaKunle oluomo, 2 others pleaded not guilty to the 11-count charge.
