Ĺawmaker Tasks Contractors On Local Content

The legislator representing Ajeromi Ifelodun Constituency 1 in the Lagos state House of Assembly, Hon. Lukmon Olumoh, has canvassed inclusion of local content in the execution of government projects, urging contractors to employ skillful youths and patronise construction materials suppliers within the area.

Olumoh said that the constituency had in abundance skillful youths that could form the workforce needed by the contractors, saying that such engagement would also boost the economy of the constituency.

He said this on Friday during his mini-constituency stakeholders meeting organised to discuss the three projects he facilitated from the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources.

The lawmaker, who is the Chairman, House Committee On Public Private Partnership (PPP), assured more projects would be facilitated to other areas in Ajeromi Ifelodun, saying that the drainage collectors when constructed would end the perennial flooding disturbing the areas.

Olumoh said ” The three projects I facilitated from the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources are; Construction of Adeponle/Baba Sule street, System 5 Channel Collector Drain, Construction of Collector Drain to deflood Ebenezer street, and its adjoining street to Alake Apena Channel and also construction of collector drain to deflood Nwandi/Ezeagwu and its community to Baale Okoye Channel.

” The joy about these projects is that our sister constituency ( Ajeromi Ifelodun 2) will benefit from it by the time the contractors are done. All these are achievable because it is the government of the APC that is in power in Lagos and so I will want us to go out there to begin to canvass for the party, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and all candidates of our party in the coming 2023 general elections”.

Speaking further, Olumoh said the government of President Muhammadu Buhari performed in so many sectors including infrastructure, saying that the 16years of the PDP government was a disaster to Nigeria.

He urged the people to vote Sanwo-Olu as a way of compensating him for the successes he had recorded in the last 3years, saying that the constituency benefits alot from his administration.

” Also, it is only through voting Tinubu on election day that we can install him as Nigerian President in 2023. If we vote him into power, certainly Lagos will benefit immensely. So, I want us to talk to our people across board to cast their vote for Tinubu and all APC candidates so as to continue to enjoy the dividend of democracy.

In his comment, the Director of Drainage Services, Ministry of Environment, Engr Ganiyu Ajadi, sought the cooperation of the residents for the quick execution of the projects in the areas, urging the elders and the traditional rulers to speak to the youths on why they should not disturb the contractors while doing their job.

Ajadi, who explained the technicalities of the projects, said that Nwandi drainage would be constructed not only to deflood but also to create road way to ease vehicular movement in the area.

Some of the stakeholders who attended the meeting include; the Council Chairman of Ifelodun Local Council Development Area, Mr Olufemi Okeowo, representative of Ajeromi Ifelodun local government, Mr Lukmoh Jimoh, Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC), Pa Samuel Olusanya, Ward Chairmen and traditional rulers.
