Ojelabi Celebrates Teachers, Says Teachers’ Rewards No Longer Heaven

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, has said teachers rewards no longer in heaven but on earth, appealing to striking lecturers to use the occassion to call off strike.
Ojelabi, in a statement issued on Wednesday to celebrate Teachers Day, said that the Day was a day to express the love and gratitude to teachers, adding that the party acknowledges the impact of the profession on societal development.
The statement reads ” Today, we celebrate the wonder that a teacher is. Our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), sees and notes your passion, your efforts, and the extra mile you go to put in every single day when you are in class teaching our children who are the future of our country.
” We therefore celebrate your doggedness and commitments in ensuring that our Education sector trives and remains one of the best in Nigeria. Your great contributions humanity and our nation’s development cannot be over emphasised.
” I know that all those you have impacted with knowledge and those that are still under your guide and tutulage know your worth and trust me, they do not forget your labour of love over them.
” Don’t feel like we don’t pay enough attention to you, our teachers, we do! You deserve so much more.
And on this day, we will shout about your greatness from every corner, so that everyone can know how amazing you are, our teachers. Thank you for making our children who are your students the happiest students in the world. If knowledge is the light, then you are the guiding star that gives us that light.”
” Thanks to you, for helping us to abandon ignorance but in its place explore this wonderful world full of knowledge and amazing mysteries! To our sweet retired teachers, for all the years you had extended your gracious efforts in shaping many careers, I thank you with all my heart and extend my good wishes to you. You have been a true inspiration and a great mentor to everyone in school.
” We urge you to keep putting in your best in order to position the Education sector in Lagos State in the best light. Be assured that the APC government shall not forget your labour.. You all shall receive your rewards in full as we assure you that your rewards are no longer in heaven but on earth.
” Let me us this occassion to appeal to our striking lecturers to use this auspicious occassion that we are celebrating our teachers to please call off your strike because of our children. We can then go back to the round table to continue negotiations. Remember it is better to jaw jaw than to war war.
” Finally, let me reiterate the importance of our teachers. Teachers Day is a day to express the love and gratitude we feel towards those who have taught us in life, from school teachers to college professors to our tutors or trainers in fields other than acadamics, l therefore felicitate with our teachers on a special day as this. I have so much gratitude for you. You are a role model for all of your students. Thank you for making us wiser each and every day”.
