Lagos 2023: Why I Ventured Into Politics- Akindele

Deputy Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos state, Ms. Funke Akindele, has said she decided to venture into politics to safe the state from bad governance.

Akindele said that nobody was happy with the economic situation in Lagos, adding that if the people failed to find solutions to it, things would soon be worst.

She made this known while addressing residents of Eleko Community, Ibeju-Lekki and members of the PDP in the area.

Akindele stated that she decided to be part of the race to make life better for the masses.

“This was why I joined the Governorship Candidate of the PDP in the state, Dr. AbdulAzeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor) so that we can repair the state.

“We want to secure the future of our children and it starts now. They said so many things, when I wanted to come out, but I did not answer them because they know that the state will be better if we get into office .

“We cannot allow our women to suffer or our youths to become bad boys because unemployment has led many of them to crimes.

“We don’t want to breed illiterates and we want our children to be better than us. We have been under the current party for 23 years with nothing to show for it. Our hospitals are not well equipped and our roads are so bad and flood is wrecking havoc in our communities,” she said.

The Deputy Governorship Candidate said enough is enough, which she said was why Jandor wants to be Governor and made a woman his Deputy.

According to her, the PDP government will recognise women and provide healthcare, education, transportation and other amenities for the people.

“Jandor came from a humble background and he used to wear torn uniforms. I have also suffered before God helped me.

“Our PVC is our power, we are tired of this government. They took all our lands in Ibeju-Lekki. Let us go out in February 2023 and vote for the PDP. Let us defeat them with our votes.

“They banned okada without finding out how the people would survive. They ought to regulate your activities rather than coming up with all forms of ticketing.

“We will regulate your activities and put proper structures in place. We will empower the youths after training them.

“We will take care of widows by giving them empowerment and loans. What are we doing for our fathers too.

“Let us vote for the PDP from the presidency to the Senate, Federal House of Representatives, Governorship and the state house of assembly. Once Alhaji Atiku Abubakar wins the presidency, then we have won,” she said.

Also speaking, a member of the party in the area, Chief Olabode Oladehinde said that he decided to join the PDP despite what he was enjoying in the other party, adding that they were tired of counterfeit.

In his comment, a former chairman of the party in the area, Olusola Eruobodo, said that they would vote for Funke Akindele, who she said is their daughter, and that the PDP is now ready to win.

“I was the Chairman of the PDP for many years and we want to win Ibeju-Lekki again. We left the party for the APC, but we came back. We have not had electricity in this area for 12 years, we want a government that will take care of us,” he said.
