Agege Stakeholders Set To Launch N500m Education Endowment Fund

 

Stakeholders in Agege local government area and Orile Agege Local Council Development Area have announced the establishment of N500 million Education Endowment Fund to assist the youths in funding their education.

This was made known on Thursday at a press conference held in Lagos by the Agege Day 2022 Celebration Committee.

Addressing journalists, the Chairman of the Committee, Mr Afolabi Ayantayo, explained that the fund would be accessed by the less privileged residing in the areas who could not afford to pay school fees and other education responsibilities.

Ayantayo added that the idea was to encourage education among the youths and get them off the streets.

Speaking on the celebration, he added that the one week event was to commemorate the conquering spirit of Agege people, and build on the unity and progress that have been achieved so far.

The Committee Chairman said ” Agege has equally produced many other prominent personalities too numerous to mention, from all walks of life names of whom this Committee is going to reel out and confer with various categories of prizes and awards in recognition of their contributions to our motherland, Agege.

” In taking stocks of the struggles of the past, and modest achievements recorded so far, we, the people of Agege have decided to celebrate our journey, our resilience, our conquests, our strides and our victory over adversities, our unity over disunity, the forbearance, bravery and undying spirit of survival, of never losing hope, and of the belief in a better future.

” In celebrating the Agege Day 2022, all hands are on deck to guarantee a hitch free celebration that will educate, entertain, illuminate and excite the entire populace and well-wishers who will be welcomed to felicitate with us from across the world. We have hordes of accomplished Agege indigenes in the diaspora who are looking forward to felicitating with the rest of us that are home based”.

On provision of adequate security and free flow of traffic, Ayantayo said the Committee would be working with the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and the Lagos state Transportation Management Agency (LASTMA) to ensure hitch free celebration.

The weeklong event would begin on Friday, 3rd of February 2023 by 1.00 a.m with Special Jumat Service at Markaz Central Mosque, Markaz Street, Agege, and awareness rallies across the length and breadth of Agege town by artistes of various musical genres and theatre practitioners.

Ayantayo added ” Sunday, 5th of February 2023 by 10.00 a.m. Special Sunday Service at St. Saviour’s African Church, Old Abeokuta Motor Road, Agege. Tuesday, 7th of February 2023 by 10.00 a.m. Secondary School Debate at Government College, beside NYSC Camp, Ipaja Road, Agege. Topic: “Moral Decadence among the Youths: Who is to blame, Government or Parents”

” Thurday, 9th of February 2023 by 10.00 a.m. Cultural and Traditional Displays at NYSC Camp, Ipaja Road, Agege. Thursday, 9th of February 2023 by 10.00 a.m.Grand Finale Party/Launching of the N500,000,000 Agege Educational Endowment Fund at Agege Stadium, JJ Obaremo Road, Keke, Agege.

” Friday, 10th of February 2023 by 2.pm. Miss Agege Beauty Pageant at WAB Event Centre, 68 Capitol Road, Agege. Sunday, 12th of February 2023 by 4.00 p.m. Novelty match and final football match between Agege and Orile Agege at Anwar’ul Islam Model College, Oniwaya Road, Agege”.
