Easter: Lagos PDP Greets Christians

The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has extended greetings to all the Christians in the country, especially those in the state, on the occasion of this year’s Easter Celebration.

According to the party, Easter is an opportunity of reflection on the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

In a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Lagos State, Mr Hakeem Amode, the party urged Christians to emulate Jesus Christ, who they said exemplified love, peace and unity.

Amode stressed in the statement that the nation could only achieve greatness if the adherents of the two major religions in the country; Christianity and Islam, practice what is contained in both the Bible and the Quran.

The Publicity Secretary stated that the fact that this year’s Lenten period coincided with the Holy month of Ramadan in an indication that adherents of the two religions have a lot to do together.

“We will like to celebrate with our Christian brothers and sisters in Lagos State as they celebrate this year’s Easter.

“Easter is an opportunity to remember the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and it is important that we should all eschew violence and disunity so that we can move forward as a nation.

“As a party, we are happy to rejoice with everyone for being alive to see another Easter celebration despite all that happened in our country in the last few months.

“We should not shy away from living a life of sacrifice, which Jesus Christ did with his death.

“This is what we stand for as a party, we want to do all within our power to make life better for the people both at the state and at the federal levels.

“While we are aware that Nigerians, Lagosians inclusive, have been sacrificing a lot through perseverance and endurance despite all that are happening in our country, we want to urge you all to keep hope alive.

“As a party, we are ready to serve you at all times, which is why we will do our best to see that the will of the people prevail through the constitutionally allowed process,” the statement read.

The party then enjoined residents of the state to make use of the celebration to ensure that they do their best in contributing to the development of the state and the country.

“May we also use this occasion to thank the people of Lagos State for their constant support for the PDP and our candidates at the polls.

“Our prayers are that very soon, we will get to the level we ought to be as a nation and at that time, our party and candidates will prove to you that we can achieve much together once we are able to properly manage our God-given natural and human resources,” Amode said.
