Just In: APC Governors Currently In Closed Door Meeting With Party Leadership

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, his counterpart in Kogi, Yahaya Bello and some other governors elected on the platform of All Progressives Congress are presently having a closed-door meeting with the leadership of the party.

The governors, who arrived at about 5:20 pm on Wednesday evening, went straight into the secretariat for the crucial meeting with the National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and members of the National Working Committee.

Although the agenda for the meeting was not made public, sources within the secretariat told our correspondent that it must have one or two things to do with addressing the internal wrangling within the party and the contentious zoning arrangements for the leadership of the 10th National Assembly as well

The political roundtable is coming 13 days before the election of principal officers into the leadership of the Senate and House of Representatives.

The APC had earlier adopted Kaduna lawmaker, Tajudeen Abbas and Imo rep-elect, Benjamin Kalu, as its candidates for Speaker and Deputy Speaker seats respectively, a situation that sparked outrage from other aspirants in the race.

In the upper chamber, the party micro-zoned the position of Senate president to the immediate past Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio and Deputy Senate President to the Chairman of Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Jibrin Barau
