Just In: Tinubu Appoints Gbajabiamila, Hadejia, Akume As COS, DCOS, SGF

After days of speculations, President Bola Tinubu on Friday finally appointed Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila as his Chief of Staff.

This was contained in a statement by Director, Information, State House, Abiodun Oladunjoye.

Sen. Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, was appointed as Deputy Chief of Staff.

According to the statement the president also named former Governor of Benue State and immediate past Minister of Special Duties, George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The president announced Akume’s appointment during a meeting with Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF).

While Gbajabiamila will work directly with the president, Hadejia is expected to work with Vice President Kashim Shettima.

There had been speculations in the media for days over Gbajabiamila’s appointment since Tinubu’s inauguration as president.

Gbajabiamila, who, however, spoke to the press on Thursday, urged for patience and asked that things be done the proper way rather than speculating.

The former Benue governor’s appointment, it is believed, will pacify the North Central which missed out in the National Assembly leadership positions already zoned by the ruling All Progressives Congress.
