UNGA: Tinubu To Depart For New York On Sunday


President Bola Tinubu will leave Abuja on Sunday for New York, USA ahead of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity Ajuri Ngelale, confirmed the trip to State House journalists on Friday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

He said that President Tinubu is looking forward to representing Nigeria at the General Assembly and discussing economic expansion issues with other world leaders.

He added that President Tinubu will be representing Nigeria at the General Assembly and will participate in debates on economic expansion issues.

The 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly will open on Tuesday. The first day of the high-level General Debate will be on Tuesday.

The theme of the General Assembly this is “Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity:

While briefing journalists, he said the President will be having a series of meetings with Heads of States and major chief executives and leaders of multinational firms cutting across multiple sectors of the economy.

Ngelale said though the president would be having bilateral meetings on the sidelines with other world leaders towards attracting foreign direct investment, attracting jobs, and attracting new tax revenues into the shores of our country.

He said the president is also focused on making sure that homegrown Nigerian companies have fair and equal access to foreign and international markets.

“The President will be meeting with the President of the Microsoft company worldwide, Brad Smith, with respect to how we can deepen digital transformation in the country, and to how we can expand the digital economic footprint in the country to ensure that our micro and small enterprises will have access to the internet and have access to other smart technologies that will facilitate their ability to transact business quickly and efficiently.

“Mr President will also be meeting with Sir Nick Clegg who is the president of Global Affairs for Meta technologies, which is expected to be a wide ranging conversation with respect to how we can leverage on new innovations such as artificial artificial intelligence and certain other applications to impact the way we do business in Nigeria.

“His Excellency, Mr. President, will also be meeting with the global CEO of General Electric. Of course, the General Electric is a very well known international organization that cuts across multiple sectors, they have very deep involvement in the energy sector electric power generation aviation, you know, engine production for multiple multiple modes of transportation, amongst many other inputs. So we expect that to be a very important interaction.

“Furthermore, His Excellency Mr. President will be meeting with the global CEO of Exxon Mobil Oil and Gas Company.”
