We Need More Security Personnel In Ekiti- Royal Fathers Tell FG

 

The Ekiti Council of Traditional Rulers has called on the federal government to deploy more security personnel to the state, saying Ekiti is underpoliced.

The traditional rulers made the call on Wednesday in a communique issued at the end of their meeting with governor Abiodun Oyebanji on the state of insecurity in Ekiti state.

It would be recalled that two royal fathers, Oba Samuel Olusola Olatunji, the Olumojo of Imojo and Oba David Ogunsakin, the Elesun of Esun, were murdered by gunmen recently.

Condemning the brutal killing of its members and the kidnap of school children in Emure-Ekiti, the traditional rulers called on the government to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice in no distance time.

They further called on all regular and native security systems to work together to end all manners of criminalities in the State.

The traditional rulers resolved that ” the state government should empower the traditional rulers with adequate resources to police and secure their domains.

” Directs all traditional rulers to take all necessary measures to ensure all forests currently occupied by bandits and kidnappers are flushed out immediately and that no bushes and forests are occupied by anybody henceforth.

” All regular and native security systems to work together to end all manners of criminalities in the State.

” Appeal to all Ekiti home and broad not to panic nor apprehensive as drastic measures will be collaboratively taken to ensure Ekiti is secured”.

They called on the patriotic Ekiti indigenes all over the world to generously support their communities to provide local security arrangements to protect lives and property in all communities.

The traditional rulers commended the Governor for providing quality leadership, encouraging him to remain focused.

They commiserated with the bereaved families and communities of the late Obas and prayed for the ropes of their souls in eternal rest.
