Tinubu, 36 Governors In Emergency Meeting

President Bola Tinubu is currently having an emergency meeting with governors of the 36 states at the presidential villa in Abuja.

The meeting, which commenced at about 11:30am, was also being attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima; and is being held at the council chambers at the State House.

Also, in attendance, is the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FTC) Nyesom Wike; and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

The discussion is taking place against the backdrop of increased public outrage among Nigerians about their current state of hardship.

The summit was called by President Tinubu in an effort to address the growing cost of food, insecurity, and other economic problems.

While Tinubu has instructed his economic team—which includes all pertinent government officials—to find a way to improve the situation, the Special Presidential Committee on Emergency has been authorised to provide roughly 102,000 metric tonnes of various supplies, such as rice, maize, and millet, among other things.
