Police Restate Commitment To Stamp Out Crime, Release Details Of Successful Operations 


The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has assured citizens of their unwavering commitment to stamp out crime, while disclosing details of a series of successful operations over the past few weeks.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Friday.

Stating that the Force has resolved to leaving criminals with nowhere to hide, the law enforcement agency revealed it had achieved significant milestones in its battle against criminal elements nationwide.

The statement read: “The latest triumph occurred on March 17, 2024, at approximately 10:30 PM, when the Commander of the PMF 20 in Ikeja, Lagos, spearheaded a joint operation with mobile officers from Maroko Division. Their target: a suspected kidnappers’ hideout. In a swift and decisive action, the team apprehended nine kidnappers, rescued three hostages, and seized 10 mobile phones and two POS machines.

“In another breakthrough in Lagos State, on March 16, 2024, operatives from the Badagry Divisional Headquarters arrested Abass Taiwo Hassan, suspected leader of a cult gang responsible for the shooting of Adeniyi Adebanjo on February 26, 2024. Hassan confessed to the crime and revealed his role as the leader of a six-man cult faction.

“Meanwhile, on March 15, 2024, in Kaduna State, a surveillance team from the Sabon Tasha Divisional Headquarters responded to gunshots emanating from Kapam community. Upon arrival, they engaged armed bandits in a fierce confrontation, leading to the rescue of four abducted individuals.

“In yet another operation on March 20, 2024, at approximately 07:30 PM, the police surveillance team from the Elimgbu Divisional Headquarters in Port-Harcourt apprehended three armed robbery suspects during a routine patrol at the oil mill market. The suspects, identified as Savior Walson, Ifeanyi Aaron, and Chisom Kenneth, confessed to conducting robbery operations within the market vicinity using a tricycle to transport unsuspecting victims and a locally made pistol to carry out their crimes.”

Emphasizing NPF’s commitment to public safety, Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun PhD, NPM, asserted that the police force stands as a beacon of hope in challenging times.

He further enjoined citizens to remain vigilant and collaborate with law enforcement to create a safer, more just society for all.
