Following the nationwide protest against the recent hike in electricity tariffs, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have mobilized their forces to picket the headquarters of Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED) along Ahmadu Way in the metropolis.

The Plateau chapter of NLC and TUC officials orchestrated the sealing of the office on Monday, adhering to the directive issued by the Organised Labour.

Upon arrival, a team of enforcement officers swiftly locked out the company’s workers as early as 6:30 a.m., effectively sealing off access to the premises.

Dr. Friday Elijah, the spokesperson for Jos Disco, confirmed the development, stating, “The office of JED has been picketed. We were locked out when we came to the office. It has been sealed; nobody is allowed to enter, not even myself (the spokesperson) and the chief security officer.

“All of us arrived this morning for work, only to be locked out. The office has been picketed and sealed,” he added

Chairman of the Plateau chapter of NLC, Comrade Eugene Manji, affirmed the compliance with the directive from the national headquarters, emphasizing that the premises had been effectively sealed off in protest against the tariff hike.
